Terra Energy Partners LLC, Benjamin "BJ" Reynolds, Mark Mewshaw, and Wes Hobbs, a trade secret misappropriation lawsuit filed in Harris County in 2016 (the "Terra Litigation").
The Parties and Their Relationships
Plaintiff Mesquite Energy, Inc. is a Delaware corporation with its principal place of business in Houston, Texas. From its formation until June 30, 2020, Mesquite was known as Sanchez Energy Corporation ("SN"). The name change occurred when SN emerged from bankruptcy. Mesquite brings this case on its own behalf and as the assignee of Evolve Transition Infrastructure LP, formerly known as Sanchez Midstream Partners LP, formerly known as Sanchez Production Partners LP ("SNMP").
Defendant Sanchez Oil & Gas Corporation ("SOG") is also a Delaware corporation with its principal place of business in Houston, Texas. SOG, SN, and SNMP were all co-plaintiffs in the Terra Litigation against Terra Energy Partners and several individuals.
The Procedural History
The Business Court of Texas, Eleventh Division, held a bench trial from January 12 through January 16, 2026. The court received live testimony from seven witnesses, deposition designations, and exhibits. The parties submitted post-trial briefs on January 30, 2026. The court's opinion was entered on March 4, 2026.
